Care instructions

WULFFWINDING sculptures are designed for indoor hanging only and are not suitable for outdoor settings. All product finishes are made in hand in our own workshop. Due  to  the  hand-made  process as well as the raw materials,  each product is unique and may vary in finish.

Whether you have chosen your WULFFWINDING sculpture in brass, zinc, steel or wood, the sculpture will gain a beautiful natural patina over time, depending on the environmental impact that the sculpture is exposed to. The patina which is a part of our design, is affected by room temperature, air humidity, light, impurities etc. WULFFWINDING cannot be held responsible for surface changes due to this type of natural influences. The care instructions below are provided to you as a service and WULFFWINDING cannot be held responsible for any result caused by following our care instructions since the natural materials of the sculptures may behave differently.

Take good care of your WULFFWINDING sculptures, and they will be with you for life.

Wood

The wooden sculptures are finished with a natural oil that is suitable for wood. Stains can be removed carefully with a soft cloth and a little bit of water, perhaps mixed with a mild detergent. A natural transparent oil for wood can be used if necessary. Please note: do not use any kind of harsh cleaners, scrub sponges or other sharp/scratchy objects when cleaning your sculpture. WULFFWINDING offers no warranty in case of mistreatment of the sculpture.

Zinc

Our zinc sculptures are made of an exclusive pre-patinated zinc. Zinc is a natural long lasting material that is easy to clean. The surface is vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints. Use of the provided cotton gloves is recommended. The surface may patinate further over time depending on outside influences. You can remove stains carefully with a soft cloth and a little bit of water, perhaps mixed with a mild detergent. Be careful not to rub the surface hard. Please note: do not use any kind of harsh cleaners, scrub sponges or other sharp/scratchy objects when cleaning your sculpture. WULFFWINDING offers no warranty in case of mistreatment of the sculpture.

Brass

The brass sculptures are made of solid natural brass. The surfaces are vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints. Use of the provided cotton
gloves is recommended. The brushed brass versions are untreated and therefore patinates beautifully over time, taking on a variety of tones. To achieve a patinated surface, you should completely avoid polishing or otherwise treating the surface. It is possible to remove the patina, using a very fine nylon abrasive fleece or alternatively brass polish like BRASSO for a more polished look.  You can remove stains carefully with a soft cotton cloth. The browned brass surfaces should only be cleaned with a soft cloth if needed. A natural acid free oil on a clean soft cloth can be applied to freshen up the surface. The oxidised brass surface is very delicate and must be treated with great care. Clean only with a light feather duster. Please note for all surfaces: do not rub the surface. Do not use any kind of harsh cleaners, scrub sponges or other sharp/scratchy objects when cleaning your sculpture. WULFFWINDING offers no warranty in case of mistreatment of the sculpture.

Blued steel

Our blued steel sculptures are handmade and thus unique every time. Steel is a natural long lasting material that is easy to clean. The surface
is vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints. Use of the provided cotton
gloves is recommended.  The blued steel surfaces should only be cleaned with a soft cloth if needed. A natural
acid free oil on a clean soft cloth can be applied to freshen up the
surface (the color will appear slightly darker). Be careful not to rub the surface hard. Please note: do not
use any kind of harsh cleaners, scrub sponges or other sharp/scratchy
objects when cleaning your sculpture. WULFFWINDING offers no warranty in
case of mistreatment of the sculpture.
